Day 3

This morning we gave a program at Pleasantview Mennonite Church. Our day together began at nine-thirty a.m. at the school, where we did warm ups. Unfortunately, the vast majority of the chorus members who made it on time were male in gender (no reasonable explanation to this has been found as of yet). In spite of the varied arrival times, we did have good warm up time. John challenged us to remember that this program isn’t about us and to focus on maximizing Jesus. He also warned us that the acoustics would be difficult and suggested we relax, sing softly, and focus on tuning.

In the meantime, church was in progress as usual and Julian preached the message, after which we sang. After warm ups, we jumped on the bus and headed up the road to the church. Danny led us in our prep time by reading the first verses of Hebrews 12 and challenged us to lay aside any “weight” we might have before the program.

Various chorus members observed that the program was their best program musically. The audience differed a bit in response and emotion from the the prisoners we sang to last night, but yet was very attentive and made it a very worshipful experience. They served us an incredible meal afterwards and sent us away with a generous monetary gift!

Because of a tight schedule created by traveling to another time zone, we were back on the bus by one-fifteen, heading to Kokomo, Indiana for an evening program.

  2. I wanted to tell you we prayed for you several times this morning in church. We commit you to our Father in heaven for his blessing on your ministry. David said to tell you to sing, sing, sing! = )

Btw, in case you are cool, our thermometer showed 113.9 for a bit this afternoon!
